What is your Product/Service?

Virtual administrative, project and business management services.

I graduated from Georgia Southern University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management with a focus in Computer Information Systems. After graduation I being working for a small business in Atlanta as a project assistant in the area of facilities project management. During my time with them, I went back to school and received a Master of Project Management from Keller Graduate School of Management, In January 2009 I was laid off. Since that was the beginning of what we now call "The Great Recession" I had to find a way to support myself while looking for employment. One day while in Staples handling some business for my son's pre-school I started a conversation with a woman who owned a non-profit. To this day I'm not sure what she saw in me but she suggested I target small business owners and non-profit organizations to see if I they would like to work with me by assigning me their small administrative tasks. She explained that many times people need help but don't have the resources to hire someone full time or even part time. Even though I didn't jump on that immediately her words stuck with me. The next year as I was working with my son's mentoring group, the founder of that group told me the same thing. He told me that people needed my help with their business. And from there Empress was born. I originally started out only doing light graphic design and simple administrative tasks. Over time I begin to offer project and business management services as well as development and content editing for book projects and small business consulting. This year I have decided to expand also offer workshops to business organizations for adult and youth entrepreneurs.

What Inspires you?

Because my clients become like extended extended family to me, they inspire me daily to keep going and to spread my wings into uncomfortable territory. My son also serves as a motivator. Its important to me that he sees me as someone who isn't afraid to step outside of the box and follow her dreams. Its extremely important that we practice what we preach to our children.
